Mild air makes welcomed return to UK this week
Milder air greeted residents across the United Kingdom early this week and is expected to last into the weekend.
High pressure positioned to the east of the U.K. will provide a southerly flow across the country, bringing above-normal temperatures.
The change to milder weather will be welcomed for most following a chilly weekend that featured gusty winds and widespread wintry showers.
A weak storm will bring scattered showers throughout the U.K. on Wednesday with a few showers lingering across Scotland and Northern Ireland on Thursday.
The greatest threat for a shower in London and the South East will be on Wednesday afternoon.
Even though showers and cloud are expected, the strong southerly flow will continue to provide mild weather throughout the entire U.K. on Wednesday and Thursday.
High temperatures will average 9-11 degrees Celsius (48-52 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the U.K. with the highest temperatures across southern England, including Greater London.
Normal high temperatures are 5-7 C (41-45 F) during the middle of February.
A storm approaching from the Atlantic will then bring the threat for a passing shower to Northern Ireland and western Scotland before the end of the day on Friday with sunshine and warmth expected elsewhere.
Occasional showers and gusty winds are possible this weekend across the country; however, temperatures will remain above normal with no cold air in sight.
The threat for rain and strong winds will increase next week as several storms from the Atlantic approach the U.K.
