Both NOAA and NASA have released their global surface temperature data for March 2022. Both sources confirm that last month ranked in the top five warmest Marches on record.
NOAA
March 2022 averaged 0.95 degrees Celcius (1.71 F) above the 20th century average for global, land/ocean combined surface. This put last month as the fifth-warmest March on record.
The top seven warmest Marches have all occurred since 2015.
This is the 46th consecutive March and 447th consecutive month above the 20th-century global temperature average.
NASA
Globally, March 2022 averaged 1.05 C (1.89 F) above the 1951-1980 mean for land/ocean surface combined. This also places last month as the fifth-warmest March on record.
The top six warmest Marches on record have all occurred since 2015, according to NASA.
It's still very early, but at the current rate, 2022 is on pace to give us another top-five warmest year on record globally.
The NASA monthly global temperature anomaly chart shown below, which goes back to the start of the 20th century, clearly shows the dramatic warming, especially since the 1990s.
