South Washington County Schools is apologizing to parents for releasing private information on students and families in an email sent to parents Wednesday with their children's transportation information for the upcoming school year.
In a message on the South Washington Schools Facebook page, district officials said they are "aware of the release of information about students and families through a mass email to parents regarding transportation information for the coming school year. We apologize for this mistake and are addressing the situation."
According to parents, the file containing the data sent as an attachment to the email with the subject, "Preliminary Fall Bus Information." There is no information yet on how many parents or others received the email.
There are more than 18,000 students in District 833, according to the district website. It is unclear how many students and families had their private information released.More
