2 Moderate Risks: Storm Chaser`s Delight!
A major severe weather outbreak will take place in the Central Plains tonight through the weekend. Storm Chasers in the Plains will love it, and it's just that time of year.To decode the mishmash of NOAA graphics I have assembled at right (and by "night" I mean noon to midnight):
Dark Red - MODERATE RISK Area Tonight
Pink - MODERATE RISK Area Tomorrow Night
Dark Green - Slight Risk Area Tonight
Light Green - Slight Risk Area Tomorrow Night
Light Green Area - Slight Risk Area Sunday Night
Two Moderate Risks at the same time (small one today, big one tomorrow) are fairly rare, so look out for this one. Below is a map proving that this outbreak is part of the average risk in the Plains this time of year. As to this specific outbreak, Meteo Madness Man (PREMIUM | PRO) himself warns: "The result will be supercell thunderstorms developing with large, long-lived tornadoes any time this afternoon through tonight. This will be the type of situation where you get the big wedges or large 1/2-mile to mile-wide tornadoes."
