The Valley County Sheriff's Office and McCall Fire and EMS responded to a report of a deer trapped on the ice of Payette Lake in McCall on Thursday, and found the animal unable to get her footing.
Videos shared by both agencies show the little deer loudly bleating as a rescuer carries her back to shore.
"We want to give a huge shout out to McCall Fire & EMS for rescuing this little critter, even though she complained the whole time," the sheriff's office said. "We 'deerly' appreciate them and are so grateful they didn’t get 'bucked' off the ice in the process."

"It was a busy week of ice rescues on Payette Lake, but the one today was our favorite," the fire department added.
Over the weekend, the agencies warned that the ice on Payette Lake was getting "very thin," presenting "dangerous conditions." Despite the thinning ice, it appeared thick enough near the deer on Thursday that rescuers could safely walk out onto the ice to reach the animal.
