Firefighters in Kansas helped rescue a 27-year-old horse that got stuck in mud and became too "exhausted" to free itself.
The Overland Park Fire Department said firefighters responded Tuesday to assist the horse's owner and veterinarian in freeing the trapped horse.
A video shared by the fire department shows the horse, named Renaissance, partially submerged in a pit of mud as a crowd of firefighters and civilians work to pull the huge animal out using ropes.
"Firefighters show up to work each day not knowing to what they may be called," the department wrote alongside the video on X, formerly Twitter. "A little firefighter-power, sawdust, ropes & cheering got the job done!"

Later that same day the fire department shared an update on Renaissance's condition along with some photos of the animal.
"This just in...the 27 year old horse (named Renaissance) is safe in the barn and doing well. Owners are grateful. Thanks to all involved!"
