Hail storms today across the East
Upper level low will bring plenty of showers and thunderstorms some with hail. Storm could hit New England later this week.
In the short term, the issue is the thunderstorms across the Northeast and Carolinas. The upper-level low will dump into the Appalachians producing scattered thunderstorms today into the evening. With upper-level temperatures so cold, that means thunderstorms with hail will develop. Not all storms will have large hail, but many will have pea- to marble-size hail. We may see that same thing happen again Tuesday across the Northeast. Below is the HRRR simulated radar for this afternoon showing the scattered development of the storms.
