A shift in the weather pattern this week will bring a parade of storms through the British Isles, increasing the risk of flooding.
This change in the pattern will come after a storm spread flooding rainfall into parts of France and Italy this weekend.
Rain gradually tapered off across the British Isles early this weekend as the storm moved away into the Mediterranean Sea.
At the same time, a large area of high pressure over eastern Europe began to break down, shifting the storm track farther north across the continent.
On Sunday, the first in the line of storms moved toward the British Isles and will track across southern areas into the beginning of the week.
Rainy spells spread across Ireland, Wales and southern England through Sunday night.
By Monday, rain will expand farther north into northern England and Scotland as the storm continues to spin over the region.
While temperatures across the region will be around 10 C (50 F) in most locations, temperatures closer to freezing in the Highlands can allow some wet snowflakes to mix in.
Showers can reach into France and Germany but should remain isolated before ending into the overnight hours.
The next storm will follow quickly behind the first, bringing the next round of rain across the British Isles Tuesday and Wednesday.
By this time the storm will have picked up what was once Tropical Storm Sebastien. This can help to enhance rainfall and wind gusts from the southern British Isles to northwestern France on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This second storm is forecast to slow down over the United Kingdom, which can give it the opportunity to wrap up over the region. This can bring a batch of steadier rain to southern locations.
Flooding will once again be a concern with the amount of rain the area has received recently. Earlier this month, many rivers and streams in England overflowed their banks and created dangerous travel conditions.
"Many streams are already high, so any additional rainfall can lead to areas of flooding," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
Flooding may not be the only threat from this storm depending on how much this storm is able to strengthen.
"Should this storm develop and track in a favorable fashion, wind gusts of 80-105 km/h (50-65 mph) will be possible," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Rob Richards.
The strongest gusts will be most likely along coastal areas in Ireland, Wales, western France and northern Spain. While this second storm gradually drifts into central Europe through the end of the week, another storm will take aim for the United Kingdom.
Showery spells are once again expected to spread across the region, but this storm has the potential to bring another round of heavier rain. This will prolong the risk of flooding across the region.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, many Christmas markets have opened for business or will be opening soon across Europe.
Those headed out to enjoy the market in Manchester next week should be prepared for outbreaks of showers almost every day.
Wet weather may impact popular Christmas markets in Vienna, Austria, Berlin, Germany, and Strasbourg, France, during the second half of next week.
