Atlantic basin to remain quiet through end of May

There are no areas of concern in the tropical Atlantic Ocean basin through the end of May.

Tools used by meteorologists had previously hinted that a counter-clockwise wind pattern, called a gyre, may lead to tropical development over the warm waters of the southern Gulf of Mexico the first weekend in June. While latest indications are less impressive, AccuWeather meteorologists will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if the prospect of tropical development increases.
