Thunderstorms Wake, Rake Long Island
UPDATE: Tornadic damage has been confirmed near Islip and a more comprehensive report will be issued by The NWS [JessePedia] tomorrow (hopefully with photos). 5.18" of rain has also been reported today at Garden City, New York.

Crain's says that there were dozens of flight and train delays as a result of local flooding. One of my blog readers pointed out that a Tornado Warning was issued this morning for Islip and short-lived rotation was detected on radar, but a tornado was not sighted.
Newsday says that 42,000 were left without power, roads were closed and that some of the wind damage in Islip was reported to be a tornado but this was not confirmed. Over 3.5 inches of rain fell in parts of the city, according to Doppler Estimates:
The only two storm reports filed with the NWS were in Oakdale and Islip Terrace:
