RSS & More Big Blog Changes
I have seriously improved today what I call the "Weather Fun Bar (tm)" that you see to your left.
First, the RSS feed is finally active.
RSS is an excellent way to keep up with what's in my blog, and it's a good replacement for those of you who are used to reading and participating in email lists. Basically, with an RSS reader (such as Google Desktop, which I recommend), you input my RSS feed and the reader continually downloads it in the background and shows you the latest headlines from my blog. There are many other RSS readers out there. If you really want to go nuts into what RSS is, check out this article.
archives of the J-Cam, and an explanation of the origin of the J-Cam, in case you really wanted to know. (let's transport back to 1995...)
Archives for the Weather Cam, have been added, as well as a link to the history of my weather cameras.
The AccuCam (a weather camera here at AccuWeather HQ) is coming soon. Brian the IT Guy and I decided on an office today to house the camera and he is getting it hooked up with networking (the camera has a LAN port on it, how cool is that?)
Below the Links O' the Day section, I've added a section that displays the current tropical systems in the Atlantic, since that's a frequently asked question from readers. Hopefully that will keep me from having to post every time a storm forms or changes classification. I don't want this blog to try to substitute for the excellent information that's already automagically updated on the AccuWeather.com or WeatherMatrix Hurricane Centers.
Last, but not least, are just some random weather-related quotes that I've heard in songs or movies (I'm a big music/television fan, don't get me started).
I hope you enjoy all of this; feel free to email me any questions you may have about my blog, the weather, or anything else.
