Persistent Thunderstorms Douse Chicago Area
UPDATE: Here is some raw video of the flooding and wind damage:
UPDATED 4 PM CENTRAL: The storms have finally faded out after dropping as much as 4.7" of rain in the metro area. Doppler Precip image updated below.
ORIGINAL POST: Persistent, non-moving thunderstorms sprouted up in the Chicago area around noon and are still there as of 2 PM Central Time. They have dropped over 3 inches of rain and 700 lightning strikes (doppler-estimated precip and lightning strike maps from AccuWeather.com RadarPlus below). Outside of tweets, there was no news related to the heavy rain.
