MOD RISK: Major Tornado Outbreak Underway
Our second major January tornado outbreak is in progress. The Moderate Risk issued this morning by The SPC [JessePedia] has been expanded to include a larger area this afternoon (see map below). For the last few hours, between 10 and 20 Tornado Warnings have been in effect at any one time, and nearly 20 Tornado Reports have been issued. Over 80 Tornado Warnings and nearly as many Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued today. For real-time stats, access the StormMatrix box below:

If you click on "Tornadoes" above, these aren't just tornadoes that are being sighted today, there are an unusually high number of damage reports, for example:
- DAMAGE TO CHURCH IN WILEY (AL)
- TWO HOMES DESTROYED NEAR VERNON, TWO MORE STRUCTURES DESTROYED, ONE PERSON INJURED (AL)
- SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE IN CALEDONIA (MS)
- POSSBILE TORNADO DAMAGED SEVERAL BUILDINGS NEAR NEW ROADS (LA)
- OLD STORE DESTROYED NEAR MCCOOL (MS)
- 4 STRUCTURES HEAVILY DAMAGED IN SALLIS (MS)
- SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, ONE INJURED IN GOODMAN (MS)
