High Tornado Risk Vs. Population Maps
NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has issued a High Risk for severe thunderstorms Tuesday, including tornadoes today. Their new population map product (which is a great addition because it helps the media, such as AccuWeather, gauge destructive potential) shows that most of the High Risk area does not include major cities.
That's the good news. The bad news is that the Moderate Risk, which could also easily house a major tornado outbreak, does include major cities from Dallas to Memphis. And tomorrow, many major Southern cities will be in the Moderate risk. For additional severe weather information, tune into AccuWeather.com for breaking news stories and videos like this one.
