Ernesto Causes Record Wave
The interaction between Ernesto's remnants and a high-pressure system caused a record September wave at Buoy 44009 on September 2nd, according to the National Weather Service. The buoy, a 3-meter discus like the one shown below, measured a 22.3 foot wave. The all-time record (since 1986) is only 25.3.
