Alberta Clipper Snow Update and a Look Ahead
The Alberta clipper storm brought a steady snow to the Regina, Sask., area earlier today, and this will also be the case for the Winnipeg, Man., region through this evening with a general 8-12 cm, along with the gusty winds and biting cold. Snow will continue to drift over the roads through the night, so take it slow.
This same clipper will weaken as it tracks southeastward toward the Great Lakes by tomorrow, but there will still be enough lift in the atmosphere to produce a quick 2-8 cm of snow across southern Ontario on Friday. Best chance of 8 cm will be in the Windsor, St. Thomas areas, while amounts will be closer to to as you head up toward the GTA.
Behind this system, there will be some lake-effect snow late Friday night through Saturday (west-northwest to east-southeast direction), but it will be fairly disorganized.
It appears this system will not phase moving off the coast, so a near miss (a covering perhaps south of Yarmouth) for Nova Scotia Friday night into early Saturday (kudos to the GFS model)

Early next week
Brief pattern flip early next week as moist, milder air spreads northeastward into Ontario and Quebec. With the warm-up will come some snow initially early Monday, which may change to a mix of sleet and freezing rain as the warmer air moves in aloft, while just enough cold air hangs out near the surface. Keep in mind, the initial storm will be fairly weak, but it does not take much freezing rain to cause travel problems.
The warmer air will briefly win out later Tuesday into Wednesday with mixed precipitation changing to liquid over the southern half of Ontario into southern Quebec as temperatures rise above freezing, but cold air will return late Wednesday and Thursday.
The warm-up won't last though, as Arctic air will be re-loading over Northwest Canada before making another attack at the Prairies then eastern Canada later in the week. Some of that cold may get into southern BC for a day early next week before it shifts eastward.
