Gulf Storm to Wet the Northeast at Midweek
Monday Morning
The storm that was Hurricane Patricia is now a rainstorm that has been drenching the Gulf states. At New Orleans, for example, they had no measurable rain during the first 24 days of October. On average, they get just under 3.6 inches of rain in this month. Then, suddenly, when the latest storm hit yesterday, they had a deluge with 8.67 inches, well more than double the average they have for the whole month.
The storm should be less productive as it moves into the Northeast, but it could still cause street flooding. This could cause some additional hazards in communities where lots of leaves are lying around. Wet leaves are slippery, and piles of leaves can block storm drains. In this video, we look at where the storm was this morning, and what should transpire this week.
This map shows the predicted rainfall from early this morning through Thursday, according to the operational run from last night. It shows the greatest concentration from Mississippi to Lake Erie and a separate band of heavy rain near the East Coast.
