Why the East Coast received a bonus stretch of nice weather

Unseasonably warm weather occurred along much of the East Coast.
A storm off the North Carolina coast delivered unseasonably nice weather for a large section of the U.S. starting Sunday that continued a little longer than expected, according to AccuWeather meteorologists. While AccuWeather meteorologists expected the warm weather, the storm extended its duration.
High temperatures Monday included 61 in New York City -- with an AccuWeather RealFeel® of 68 -- and 61 in Boston and Washington, D.C. Four days ago, it was 2 degrees F four days ago in New York, 5 in Boston and 10 in Washington, D.C.
“If you look at the satellite loop it really tells a story,” said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dave Dombek. “There’s a nice spin of a strong low-pressure system off the Carolina coast. If this were late summer, you’d think it was a tropical storm."
Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts, though.
“We got an extra 12 to 24 hours because of the storm,” Dombek said. “It has been a slow mover, but it’ll finally move out to sea and lose its influence on us.”
