Cricket World Cup weather: Showers may dampen Sunday's fixture between India, Pakistan

According to the BBC, parts of Lincolnshire in England received as much as an average month's worth of rainfall for the month of June in one day on June 11. This led to severe flooding across the English midlands including the town of Horncastle, many roads were closed.

After poor weather conditions pestered the Cricket World Cup in the United Kingdom last week, more wet weather is in store for the fixture between India and Pakistan on Sunday.

The fixture will begin at 9:30 a.m. BST (5:30 EDT) and will take place at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground just outside of Manchester.

Showery spells are expected throughout the United Kingdom on Sunday.

While the rain is not expected to be heavy and last all day, it can make the pitch wet and slippery at times and will necessitate spectators to bring along rain gear.

There will also be sunny intervals as well especially across the southeastern areas.

The temperature will rise from around 13 C (56 F ) at the start of the fixture to 18 C (64 F) during the afternoon hours.

Last week, persistent rain from late Wednesday to Thursday morning caused the pitch at Trent Bridge in Nottingham to be too wet for the fixture between India and New Zealand to be played.

Around 3 p.m. local time, officials called off the match.

The nearby airport at Leeds and Bradford reported continuous rain for 18 hours. The resultant flooding led to many road closures on Thursday morning around Nottinghamshire, the county's Fire and Rescue Service reported.
