UK to turn unsettled in days leading up to Christmas
Rainy and windy spells will return to the United Kingdom leading up to Christmas.
A settled pattern will hold through early this week before the change unfolds.
High pressure keeping showery spells mostly confined to Scotland into early in the week will depart around Wednesday. Storms will then roll into the U.K.
The storminess will sweep away the fog and low cloud plaguing Wales and England underneath the high. However, holiday shoppers and travelers will have to deal with bouts of rain and gusty winds.
A cold front will move in on Tuesday evening.
The steadiest rain and strongest wind gusts accompanying this front will buffet northern and western Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The rain and winds will fizzle as the front pushes toward South East England on Wednesday. Despite this, scattered showers will dampen Wales as well as the North and West of England. The Southeast of England will remain largely dry during the midweek.
A turn to even stormier conditions across the U.K. is expected during the end of the week and during Christmas weekend.

Rain and wind would put a damper on plans to attend the final days of Christmas markets. Those heading to Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services will likely need brollies. However, gusty winds could make holding onto brollies or hats difficult.
Travelers headed to Christmas destinations could face delays and may want to add extra time to their plans.
For residents hoping to see snow around the holidays, it is possible for snow to occasionally fall and even settle on some hills with cooler air following each system.
