The month of the October 2011 will go down as one of the warmest on record across the UK.
As of Oct. 25, the average temperature of the UK as a whole was 2.1 degrees C above average, the UK Met Office said last week.
The Met Office ranked the month seventh warmest in the modern record, dating back to 1910. The warmest month of October was that in 2001, which had an average temperature of 12.2 degrees C (54.0 F). As of Oct. 25, the UK average temperature was put at 11.5 degrees C (52.7 F).

The month is now ending with another bout of warmth, which should keep the month's final average temperature high in the list. What is more, the relative warmth will last through most of the week.
