The Madness of Cirrus Clouds and the Jet Stream
The cool thing about cirrus clouds is that the tell you the direction of the upper-level winds. The picture taken yesterday here in Madville, USA, shows the cirrus clouds coming in ahead of a cold front. The shape of the clouds is the key to the direction of the upper-level winds. Notice that the clouds are shaped like the Nike logo. The head of the logo points in the direction the cirrus clouds are traveling. In this case, I aimed the camera southwest and the shape of the cirrus clouds points to the Northeast. The clouds are traveling from southwest to northeast. Oh, the Madness of what I see in the sky.
