Snow, rain and wind to lash Germany into midweek
A powerful storm will unleash snow, rain and strong winds across Germany into Wednesday.
This combination of inclement weather may result in a wide array of travel delays throughout the country.
The greatest threat for snow in northern Germany will be on Wednesday as colder air rushes across the region allowing the rain to mix with snow. Some slushy accumulation is possible.

Accompanying the rain and snow will be gusty winds.
The strongest winds will batter northern and eastern Germany through Wednesday with widespread gusts of 65 km/h (40 mph) and isolated gusts reaching 80 km/h (50 mph) from Hamburg to Berlin.
While little or no accumulation is expected in northern and central Germany, more significant snowfall is expected in southern Germany.
Widespread 2-8 cm (1-3 inches) of snow is expected across Bavaria, Baden-Wurttemberg and southern Hessen through Wednesday, with higher amounts in the Bavarian Alps.
“Roadways will become snow covered and slippery, resulting in slow travel,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.

Frankfurt could get a coating to 2 cm (1 inch) of snow through Wednesday; however, temperatures will remain above freezing which will limit accumulations on roadways.
While there can be a few snow showers in southern and eastern Germany on Thursday, a blast of arctic air will be the bigger story as it turns even colder on Friday.
This will be the coldest air of the season for most locations. High temperatures will climb only to around -7 C (19 F) in Munich and surrounding areas of Bavaria on Friday.
High temperatures will fail to reach zero C (32 F) across the rest of Germany both on Thursday and Friday outside of the northwest coast.
