Severe Threat Tuesday: Buffalo, Albany, Bangor
A sharp cold front slicing through northern New York state and New England will ignite rounds of powerful thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
Cities targeted include Buffalo, Rochester and Utica in New York. Burlington in Vermont. And Portland, Augusta and Bangor in Maine.
These beastly storms will have the potential to produce intense gusts of wind, hail larger than quarters, and torrential, blinding downpours.
Some of the strongest storms may even spawn a tornado or two, especially across the northern tip of New York state, and much of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine
If you'll be out and about this afternoon and evening, you'll want to pay close attention to changing skies. Thunderstorms will move quickly and once you can hear thunder, lightning can strike at any time.
Be sure to heed all watches and warnings, and keep in mind a watch means the potential for a severe storm is there. A warning means it will happen.
