Photos: Nor'easter cuts power to over 1 million, unleashes over 2 feet of snow for some
A major winter storm hammered the northeastern United States with thundersnow, rain and gusty winds from Wednesday into Thursday.
Snowfall totals surpassed the one-foot benchmark in northern New Jersey and areas of New York near and south of Poughkeepsie. West Milford, New Jersey, got some of the heaviest snow; a National Weather Service trained spotter measured 20.5 inches as snow in the area.
Other parts of northern New Jersey exceeded 2 feet, including the towns of Montville (26.8 inches) and Morris Plains (26 inches).
In the Green Mountains of southern Vermont, a whopping 3 feet of snow was reported in the town of Woodford. Elsewhere in New England, Warren, Connecticut, received 28 inches of snow, while Adams, Massachusetts, located in the northwestern part of the state, received 26 inches.
States of emergencies were declared in New Jersey and Pennsylvania as power companies continued to deal with issues from previous winter weather. Hundreds of thousands were still without power due to the most recent bomb cyclone, while falling tree limbs and utility poles triggered additional power outages.
After the March 2 storm left over 2 million without power, this nor'easter triggered over 1 million outages throughout the region, according to poweroutage.us.
The Associated Press reported that 10 people were hospitalized in North White Plains, New York, with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning after running a generator inside a home.

One fatality was reported in Suffern, New York, after a person was killed by a falling tree, according to News 12.
A second death was reported in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, where a man's vehicle caught fire from a downed power line, according to the AP.
Roads were rendered impassable across parts of central and northern New Jersey after heavy snow buried the area, leaving some passengers stranded.
The New Jersey State Police responded to more than 530 vehicle accidents and over 1,000 motorists aids on Wednesday, which include breakdowns, spin-outs and flat tires.
AccuWeather accurately predicted snowfall totals for the March 7 - 8 nor’easter, and long-range meteorologists began warning of snowstorm threats in this time-frame two weeks prior.
