Driver rescued after jeep gets stuck in surf at California beach
Rescue crews were able to rescue a driver from their vehicle after it got trapped on a beach amid high tide in Newport Beach, California, on Dec. 14. The vehicle was then removed from the water.
A motorist was rescued early Saturday after their jeep became stuck in the surf at a California beach, authorities said.
The Newport Beach Fire Department said police and fire crews responded to Corona del Mar Main Beach early Saturday morning following a report of a vehicle stuck in the ocean.
Photos shared by the fire department show what appears to be a Jeep partially submerged and stuck in the wet sand at the shoreline, getting tossed around waves.
One individual was successfully rescued from the water "despite the challenging conditions caused by waves rolling the vehicle in the surf," the fire department said.

The patient was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Newport Beach Public Works personnel removed the vehicle from the surf before it was towed away.
"The teamwork and determination of all responders were critical in overcoming the hazards posed by the early morning surf," the fire department said.
Newport Beach police are investigating how the vehicle ended up in the surf.
