"If you happened to have lost or misplaced approximately 25 kilos of cocaine and would like to have your property returned, please contact our Narcotics Agents and we will be more than happy to reunite you with your lost property," the Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey joked.

Truth is stranger than fiction, the saying goes, and that's frequently true in the Sunshine State. A Florida fisherman hoping to catch a big one recently hauled in more than 50 pounds of cocaine wrapped in watertight plastic and branded with a scorpion, authorities said Monday.
Authorities cheekily confirmed the bizarre find on Facebook on Monday, adding yet another chapter to Florida’s long list of unbelievable but true stories.
"If you happened to have lost or misplaced approximately 25 kilos of cocaine and would like to have your property returned, please contact our Narcotics Agents and we will be more than happy to reunite you with your lost property," the Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey joked alongside a photo of the drugs.

"The kilos had a watertight seal and are brilliantly branded by the cartel for marketing purposes with a very gnarly looking scorpion that makes them easily identifiable and ready to be reclaimed," Ivey wrote.
The fisherman who found the stash contacted the sheriff's office "in an effort to do the right thing." The sheriff's office said the 25 kilograms, or about 55 pounds, of cocaine carries an estimated street value of roughly $1.7 million.
"Once we properly identify you as the rightful owner we will gladly return your property and also make sure that both you and your property are kept in a secure area so that no one can try to rip you off," Ivey wrote. "In fact, we are so excited to return something this valuable to its rightful owner that we are also going to throw in an all expenses paid extensive 'staycation' at 'Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge' so that you can reflect for a while on exactly how much your lost property means to you!!"
