Baghdad, Iraq, gets second snow in 100 years

On Jan. 11, 2008, I blogged that residents of Baghdad, Iraq, had seen their first snow in over 100 years:

On Feb. 11, 2020, it happened again.

According to our article, "cold air from western Russia traveled in the upper levels of the atmosphere and made its way to the city, which received 1-2 inches of snowfall."
The official "synoptic" weather observations from the airport show that they reported snow; in fact, 4 cm (1.6 inches) of snow was recorded, with a high temperature on Feb. 11 of 7 degrees Celsius (44 F) and a low temperature this morning of -3.4 C (26 F).
