UPDATE: The NWS precip estimate is out and quotes over 10 inches in several counties over 24 hours.
ORIGINAL BLOG ENTRY:
It's too early for it to be picked up on Google News yet (as of this blog entry being written at 6:15 AM Central Time) but there's more flooding in the Plains today. Parts of southeast Kansas have been doused with as much as a foot of rain* over the past two days. Expect to see some houses under water on-air when the sun rises.
*This is according to Doppler Estimates, a 24-hour composite of which is shown above. A more accurate map will be put out by the NWS later this morning which is also based on actual amounts. It depends on which radar you ask as to which area received how much rain in what amount of time. Click below to see zoomed in radars of storm-total precip estimates. Right now here's how it stands:
Wichita Radar: 8-10 Inches Since Yesterday Morning (19.7" Max is likely inaccurate)
Tulsa Radar: 14 Inches Since Thursday Evening
Vance AFB Radar: Over 15 Inches Since Monday (32.4" Max is likely inaccurate)
Topeka Radar: 14.4 Inches Since Tuesday Morning
Some Kansas towns affected by the heaviest rains (according to the maps above) are: Howard, Fall River, New Albany, Fredonia, Benedict, Altoona, Neodesha, Sycamore, Elk City, Buxton, Moline, Elk Falls, Bolton and Independence.
