1.5 Feet of Snow in MO, Thundersnow
Thundersnow is being observed in Wisconsin and Illinois this morning according to RadarPlus. The radar below shows heavy snow over the entire Chicago radar area, with one or more lightning strikes at the orange dots. A total of 70 lightning strikes were detected by RadarPlus between 6:30 and 8:30 AM Eastern time. Blog reader Adrian from Chicago confirms, saying "I just experienced my first thunder-snow event, complete with lightning. It's snowing like cats-n-dogs here right now at 5:09am CT."

The heaviest snow reports have come from Missouri and Illinois, where up to a foot and a half of snow fell. In Carthage, Missouri, a garage collapsed under the weight of heavy snow.
