Pattern of Extremes
The overall weather pattern over the next week will be one of extremes across Canada and the U.S.
A strong ridge of high pressure aloft will dominate in the West, while an unusually strong trof (pocket of cold air aloft) will cover eastern Canada and down into the U.S. Midwest and Northeast.
The result will be a continuation of the unusual warmth, especially from BC into Alberta, while chilly air will dominate from Manitoba through Ontario and points south with early frosts and freezes for some areas.
It may not rain for at least another week across most of western Canada. Get used to it! The pattern looks to be drier than normal into the winter.
Farther east, the warmth and higher humidity will hang out over Atlantic Canada thanks to the north Atlantic ridge.
