Long-range pattern clues through October

A strong ridge of high pressure over the Hudson Bay region will likely dominate through at least the first half of October, leading to warmer and drier conditions across much of eastern Canada and the northeastern United States.
A persistent trough just off the West Coast will likely keep areas from British Columbia to California near to slightly below normal in terms of temperature with near-normal rainfall, which is a good thing for these areas.
