AccuWeather's Unmatched Weather Application Brings iOS 5 Support to Apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch
STATE COLLEGE, PA – October 19, 2011 – AccuWeather today announced updates to its unmatched weather application to support iOS 5 and iCloud. Users can leverage the benefits of iOS 5, including iCloud, NotificationCenter and calendar integration, using the updated AccuWeather App for iPhone and iPod touch as well as the AccuWeather Platinum and AccuWeather Free Apps for iPad.
The AccuWeather apps now allow users to choose to view AccuWeather forecasts within their Calendar and NotificationCenter, as well as access saved settings and cities across their iOS devices using iCloud. The updated apps also allow social media sharing through Twitter single sign-on, as well as integration of your contacts into the RADAR weather display, which is overlaid on Google Maps.

iOS 5 specific features include: - iCloud Support - Settings and saved locations can be accessed across iOS devices. - NotificationCenter - Receive weather alerts and today's forecast in the new NotificationCenter drop-down menu. - Calendar integration - View 15-day forecasts in iCal. - Twitter integration - Twitter is integrated into iOS 5, so users can tweet weather updates and information from within the app. - View contacts on weather maps - Users can track the current weather conditions of their friends' locations. Simply select friends from the Contacts folder, and their location and name will drop down as a pin on a map. Clicking on the pin will show the current weather conditions at that location.
Additional features include: - Accurate, localized forecasts for all global locations. Updated every hour, forecasts include the most detailed hourly forecasts for twenty-four hour periods, day and night weather forecasts and local weather news. - Multiple weather views, including animated radar and satellite, videos and interactive Google Maps. - Warnings for severe weather threats, including snow, ice, rain, thunderstorms, high winds and tornadoes. - Special lifestyle weather and health forecasts, including conditions for specific outdoor activities and sports (dog walking, lawn mowing, golfing, etc.) and health-related weather forecasts, such as UV forecasts and weather conditions for people suffering from allergies.
