AccuWeather.com Wins WebAward "Standard of Excellence"
Redesigned Website Recognized as a Top Quality Site Design
(State College, PA - September 13, 2005) - AccuWeather.com, the world's leading commercial weather service, has received a 2005 Standard of Excellence WebAward for its free web site at www.accuweather.com. The 2005 WebAward Competition is administered by WMA, the Web Marketing Association, to recognize the achievements of professionals who create and maintain outstanding corporate web sites.
The new AccuWeather.com web site was re-launched in April 2005 after being completely redesigned for a total focus on the user experience. The site now includes over 100 new features and was designed utilizing feedback from users of the popular former site, who were able to rate and comment upon selected pages and features via a Redesign Blog and a design test microsite. Many of their comments were incorporated into the new design, ensuring an optimum experience for visitors.
"We're thrilled to receive recognition for the excellence of our free web site at www.accuweather.com," says Jim Candor, Senior Vice President of New Media. "This WebAward confirms what our visitors have told us - our popular site is one of the best on the Internet today. Our design and content team continues to improve the site even more, with additional useful and interactive features, such as the expanded Hurricane Center and the new Community section."
