You may have heard that the groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, did not see his shadow this year, so we are to expect an early spring. With spring already on its way, you should know what seeds to plant to ensure you have the most exquisite garden this season.

Check out our top ten list of types of flowers that you can expect an early bloom with this spring.

1. Tulip - Tulipa

The tulip is a timeless classic of all the spring flowers. Tulips are known for their lovely cup-like shape and the wide variety of colors  that span the entire rainbow, and beyond! You may even find some tulips in a deep maroon or black. Tulips only need to be watered weekly and have partial sunlight. Expect the earliest bloom in early March, right at the start of spring!

2. Daffodil - Narcissus

Maybe only second to the tulip, the daffodil is one of the most iconic spring plants with its long flower petals with a tubular center. You can find daffodils in the warmer colors, like red, orange, yellow, and pink, which will no doubt add that  Spring splash of color you were missing during the long, grey winter! After planting, you may find daffodils blooming as early as late winter, depending on your climate. Water your daffodils frequently during bloom to keep them thriving all  Spring.

One of the prettiest flowers, not just of spring flowers, is the crocus. Small, elegant, and graceful, crocus plants will carpet your home garden in lovely shades of blues and purples. If you are looking for low-maintenance, the crocus, while seemingly delicate, are quite hardy plants that grow stronger and prettier in volume. Just make sure to water them well. These types of flowers are known to push past the icy grip of snow to show off their dainty bloom, so expect these before Spring has even officially sprung!

4. Hyacinth - Hyacinthus

To say a hyacinth plant has uniquely shaped flower arrangements would be an understatement, but their different appearance is what makes them unique. Hyacinth flowers grow in clusters that may resemble Lego blocks stacked  on top of one another atop a long green stalk, and they can come in a whole assortment of pastel hues! Hyacinth usually bloom a few weeks into Spring  when it has gotten a bit warmer, sunnier, and wetter, but they will be worth the wait.

One of the most aromatic flowers to ever grace a garden, the sweet pea will quickly become the envy of your garden with it’s dangling, paper-thin petals and lovely pastel shades.
