AccuWeather, Microsoft launch 'Winter Warrior'
AccuWeather and Microsoft team up to bring you Winter Warrior. No need to argue anymore over who experienced the worst winter weather growing up. Let Winter Warrior settle the arguments!
AccuWeather and Microsoft Corp. continue their strong collaboration with the release of Winter Warrior™, WinterWarrior.AccuWeather.com, an online challenge between two individuals to prove who had the worst winter and recognize the true Winter Warrior.
Through this engaging new online tool, users will most accurately and scientifically know if their childhood winters were snowier than friends or family as they compare winter weather impacts through an interactive display.
With the power of AccuWeather D3: Data Driven Decisions and Microsoft Azure, Winter Warrior computes your warrior level in real-time using the best and most comprehensive historical weather data from AccuWeather, available at WinterWarrior.AccuWeather.com dating back to 1951.
AccuWeather has also developed a custom Impact Indicator™ that forecasts how impactful a weather event will be on a scale of 1 (no impact) to 10 (extreme impact). For example, 6 inches of snow in Dallas, Texas, is a level 10, but only a level 5 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The Azure platform helps enable AccuWeather to analyze and uncover valuable weather relationships and deliver these insights at scale to a global audience. AccuWeather’s proprietary index is showcased in Winter Warrior, revealing personalized challenge results through the “Childhood Winter Warrior Index.”
"We are proud to work closely with Microsoft to launch Winter Warrior, an innovative online experience that showcases the power of AccuWeather’s weather data and analytics,” said Steven Smith, president of digital media at AccuWeather. “Through Winter Warrior, we are delivering fun, engaging new insights to users that reveal the true impact of winter weather during their childhood.”
