Winter Forecast Hullabaloo
UPDATE: The video of Joe Bastardi and Ken Reeves discussing NOAA's forecast is now available on this blog entry.
ORIGINAL POST:
NOAA [JessePedia] released a teaser for their winter forecast this week, for what it's worth. It looked a lot like their winter forecast, but it was in fact just a "NOAA Outlook" which I guess was some sort of prelim done in late September (see the date on their maps) and reissued for an Energy Conference this week. But the media took it as their official release and the political cartoons are already making fun (see also Bob's Blog). NOAA says it will be updated next Thursday -- I think that will be the "real" forecast this time.
We're slightly less confusing: AccuWeather.com Professional's Joe Bastardi (PRO) also issued a preliminary outlook dated late September (but clearly marked as preliminary) and the official AccuWeather.com Winter Forecast will also come out next week. If you're a high-rolling private client of ours, you'll see it first thing Monday; Pro users should get it Tuesday and it will be in the public eye by Wednesday afternoon.
