A foot of rain for my vacation? Updates will be here.
It seems like every year I go down to the North Carolina coast (Oak Island / Long Beach) for a vacation at the beach, there are some sort of weather shenanigans going on.* This year is no different -- up to a foot of rain may fall while I'm there next week according to the two long-range forecast models:

While I am on vacation this year, I may not be blogging, so make sure to tune into my Twitter & Facebook pages (shown below) for updates!
* List of said shenanigans at Oak Island (I'm sure I'm forgetting some):
-
In 1987, evacuations were starting for Hurricane Charley when we left for the week.
-
In ~1989, there were record high water temperatures over 90 degrees offshore.
-
In ~2000, I experienced the highest heat index that I ever have - roughly 125 degrees F!
-
In 2004, Hurricane Alex was lurking offshore and I saw my first waterspout there, and got a lot of other neat photos.
-
In 2005, I saw a waterspout on my way out of town.
-
In 2007, it was super hot and humid. and I saw the best shelf cloud I ever have:

-
In 2009, I got just about every kind of weather photo I could want, from severe thunderstorms to sunsets to roll clouds, including some amazing panoramas.
-
In 2010, I got photos and videos of a huge severe thunderstorm... and it wasn't the last one of the week. The whole vacation was very photogenic.
-
In 2011, after an earlier summer trip with a huge Outer Banks storm, a huge storm caused massive street flooding on Oak Island.
-
In 2013, early indications of a tropical storm failed to materialize but I got flooding footage again.
-
In 2015, the most recent time I went to Oak Island, I almost got another tropical storm and it was a hotspot for sharks -- and saw a couple of nice thunderstorms.
