Carolina Beach Vacation: The Storm
On the last day of my visit to Oak Island, North Carolina, a severe thunderstorm swept southeastward over the beach, providing flooding rains, high winds, great gust front clouds, and lightning. I have hours of video and hundreds of pictures from the event, which I'll upload later this weekend. For now, here are the highlights in photos:
Over 10,000 lightning strikes were let loose just to my northwest, but suddenly stopped by the time the bow echo formation reached me, so I only snapped a few of them.
