Weather Worsening in Maine, New Brunswick

The storm that brought disruptive snow to the Carolinas on Saturday is now bring windswept snow to eastern New England with a blizzard to follow for Atlantic Canada and neighboring eastern Maine.

While less potent than the recent New England Blizzard of 2013, the storm closing out the weekend is still causing headaches for residents and travelers.

The worst of the snowstorm is departing southeastern New England, while conditions are worsening farther to the north where the storm will turn into an all-out blizzard across eastern Maine and Atlantic Canada before the day is through.

2:08 p.m. EST Sunday: While the snow is coming to an end in Boston and Portland, blowing and drifting snow will persist through tonight.

1:38 p.m. EST Sunday: Snow measured have reached 6.3 inches at Brewster, Mass.

1:09 p.m. EST Sunday: 5.1 inches is the official snow total for Boston.

12:47 p.m. EST Sunday: Snow is slowly winding down across eastern Massachusetts, but is intensifying across Downeast Maine and neighboring New Brunswick.

12:29 p.m. EST Sunday: Latest snowfall totals: 5.5 inches at Brewster, Mass., 5.0 inches at New Bedford, Mass., and 4.0 inches at Taunton, Mass.

11:38 a.m. EST Sunday: The worst of the snowstorm is bearing down on Cape Cod, where windswept snow has held visibility down to a quarter of a mile in Provincetown since 10 a.m. EST, and Nantucket, where the storm has officially reached blizzard criteria.

11:25 a.m. EST Sunday: Latest snow totals from Massachusetts: 4.5 inches at New Bedford, 4.0 inches at South Yarmouth and 4.2 inches at Walpole.

10:48 a.m. EST Sunday: Radar indicates that the heaviest snow is showing signs of winding down in Boston, but more snow is pressing into Portland, Maine.

10:38 a.m. EST Sunday: Snow totals from northern Maine: 7.3 inches at Caribou, 3.3 inches west of Bangor.

10:17 a.m. EST Sunday: The number of cancelled flights (both arriving and departing) for today is up to 101 at Boston's Logan International Airport, according to FlightStats.com.

10:15 a.m. EST Sunday: AccuWeather.com meteorologists warn that even after the snow comes to an end in southeastern New England, blowing and drifting snow will continue through tonight.

10:01 a.m. EST Sunday: According to FlightStats.com, 44 arriving and 43 departing flights have been cancelled from Boston's Logan International Airport so far today.

9:37 a.m. EST Sunday: More snow reports: 4.1 inches near Manville, R.I., 4.0 inches at Taunton, Mass., and 2.0 inches at Worcester, Mass.

9:19 a.m. EST Sunday: New snow totals from the storm: 3.3 inches at Stonington, Conn., and Bridgehampton, N.Y. (on Long Island).

9:00 a.m. EST Sunday: For the second consecutive hour, visibility is at a quarter of a mile at Boston's Logan International Airport due to heavy snow and winds gusting past 30 mph.

8:52 a.m. EST Sunday: Twitter user aquadan88 reported 2 to 3 inches of snow in North Attleboro, Mass.

7:59 a.m. EST Sunday: Wind gust of 58 mph measured at Nantucket, Mass.

5:53 a.m. EST Sunday: There is light snow and fog in Martha's Vinyard, on top of the wind gusts to 45 mph and sustained winds of 28 mph.

5:07 a.m. EST Sunday: Snow changed over to some freezing fog with visibilities dropping below half a mile in Newport, Rhode Island.

4:40 a.m. EST Sunday: The heaviest bands of snow from the storm off the coast of New Jersey are currently in eastern Long Island, eastern Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and southern New Hampshire and Maine.

4:15 a.m. EST Sunday: Just north of Franklin, North Carolina (in Macon County), a snow total of 2 inches was reported on the roadway.

3:28 a.m. EST Sunday: Most of the snow has left the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, with the exception of a few bands in southeastern North Carolina, including the city of Jacksonville, where it has been snowing lightly for the past 4 hours.

2:51 a.m. EST Sunday: With the storm moving further away from the Mid-Atlantic coast, wind gusts are starting to kick up in New Jersey and New York. A wind gust of 36 mph, with sustained winds of 25 mph was reported at New York's JFK Airport.

2:17 a.m. EST Sunday: In Adamsburg, South Carolina snowfall has totaled to 3 inches. Thundersnow was also reported late on Saturday night.

1:56 a.m. EST Sunday: Snow has been falling on parts of Long Island for 5 hours now, leaving a coating of snow on the ground in Islip, N.Y.

1:34 a.m. EST Sunday: Some gusty winds on the Massachusetts Cape early this morning. 39 mph in Provincetown, MA. and 36 mph in Hyannis, MA.

12:55 a.m. EST Sunday: 2 inches of snow has been reported in Great Falls, South Carolina, east of I-77 near Highway 97.

12:30 a.m. EST Sunday: 2 inches of snow was officially recorded in Flowers, North Carolina. One inch of this fell in the span of one hour.

11:42 p.m. EST: Flurries reported to be falling from the sky at the Charleston Airport in South Carolina.

11:02 p.m. EST: Half an inch of snow reported 8 miles southeast of Hemingway, S.C.

10:24 p.m. EST: In Asheville, N.C., half an inch has fallen on the ground; making some roads nearly impassable.

10:00 p.m. EST: About 5 inches of snow was reported in Appomatox, Virginia.

9:21 p.m. EST: Snow is accumulating in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the first time since Dec. 26, 2010 when three inches fell.

9:05 p.m. EST: Snow covered roads reported in Florence, S.C. One inch of snow recorded at the I-95 and I-20 interchange.
