Slow-moving snowstorm to unload up to 30 cm of snow in Ukraine by Thursday
A potent winter storm will continue to bring snow and travel disruption to parts of Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Poland and Russia into Friday.
The storm tracked from the Black Sea to central Ukraine on Wednesday and will stall over the country into Friday.
The heaviest snow will fall into Wednesday night before tapering off to occasional snow and snow showers for Thursday and Friday.

Locations from Zhytomyr to Kyiv will face the worst of the storm, with 15-25 mm (6-10 inches) falling in many areas. The hardest-hit locations could receive up to 30 cm (12 inches) of snow by the end of the day on Friday.
Travel could be brought to a halt during the worst of the storm with lingering impacts to air and ground travel for several days.
Other locations at risk for significant travel disruptions due to the prolonged snowfall include Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Poltava, Lviv and Cherkasy. These areas can expect 8-15 cm (3-6 inches) of snowfall by the Friday morning.
Outside of Ukraine, Lublin, Poland, Minsk, Belarus, and Kursk, Russia, will be at risk for a coating to 8 cm (3 inches) of snow through Friday. Slippery travel will be possible, especially at night when temperatures fall below freezing.
The storm will weaken as it spins over Ukraine on Friday with many areas drying out or seeing just some additional snow showers.
By Saturday, much of Ukraine will return to drier weather; however, another storm will bring the risk for snow to far western Ukraine, eastern Poland and Belarus.
This threat for snow will linger on Sunday while cold and dry weather prevails farther to the east.
