No Significant Cyclone Threats, Active Storm Track Returns
A highly active, northeast-trending cyclone pattern will hold sway over the North Atlantic Ocean for at least the next 10 days, focusing the brunt of storm energy between Scotland and south Greenland. Meanwhile, wintry cold will tend to back eastward as maritime warmth overspreads Western Europe over the next few days.
Owing to cyclone #1 lifting north to Iceland, exposed places in the west of Ireland to North West Scotland will be prone to 60 mph gusts on Friday.
Cyclone #2 will become severe over open water by Sunday; however, it will cut northward even farther west than #1. Still, an offshoot cyclone of #2 could bring a few 40-50 mph gusts to the United Kingdom and Ireland on Sunday and Monday.
Cyclone #3 will be a major winter storm along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States on Saturday. This cyclone is likely to elongate or split before reaching Ireland and the U.K. on next Tuesday or Wednesday, so widespread adverse impact seems highly unlikely.
