Festivalgoers planning on spending a few days in the desert later this week to experience the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, will be greeted with persistently hot, dry and sunny conditions.
This festival showcases the hottest names in music, as well as new and emerging artists, for two consecutive weekends each April. The Weeknd, Beyoncé and Eminem will headline both weekends of the event, which runs April 13-15 and 20-22.
"Arguably, the most important item for those attending the festival is sunscreen," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Mike Doll.

"With nearly full sunshine expected for the first weekend, skin can burn within 30 minutes without sunscreen," he said.
Shaded hats, sunglasses and even high-coverage, sun-resistant clothing will be necessary depending on one's sun sensitivity.

Although temperatures on Friday only reached 83 F, a heat wave is expected to continue to build through Sunday.
"It will be hot, even for this time of year, again on Sunday," Doll said.
On Sunday, firefighters battled a 15-acre vegetation fire in the City of Coachella that reportedly ignited just six miles from the music festival. It has burned at least 10 acres since 4:30 a.m. local time and was 10 percent contained as of 8:30 a.m. local time, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
No injuries have been reported.
Temperatures in the Coachella Valley reached the upper 80s F Saturday and will soar into the lower to middle 90s on Sunday, though AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will be around 3 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the actual temperature.

The first performers of each day typically take the stage at noon. This means the first few shows will take place during the warmest part of each day.
"Everyone from the attendees, to event staff and the acts need to drink plenty of water to keep properly hydrated," Doll said.
When the sun sets around 8 p.m. local time, conditions will quickly cool to a more comfortable level in time for major headliner shows through midnight.
Overnight temperatures will bottom out around 60 F before dawn, offering some relief from the daily sweltering afternoon heat and beating sunshine.
It will be important for everyone in attendance to remain sufficiently hydrated at all times and to seek shade and medical attention if signs of a heat-related illness exist.
"Overall, the weather pattern will favor dry and very warm conditions for the second weekend of the festival," said Doll.
