The United Kingdom broke high pressure records last week
Unusually high atmospheric pressure broke records in the United Kingdom last week, and I've got the maps to prove it.

Atmospheric pressure over the United Kingdom rose to unprecedented levels last week.
The Ocean Prediction Center analysis map from Jan. 19 shows a 1049 mb high pressure system over England, or 30.98" Hg of mercury, a reading few have seen.
The pressure reached 1050.5 mb, or 31.02" Hg, at Mumbles Head in Wales, only 0.4 mb away from the local record. The all-time country record is 1053.6 (31.11"), set in 1902.
In London, however, the local record was broken at 1049.6 mb (30.99" Hg) and their records go back to the 1600s). Particularly impressive was the pressure change from a week ago there, when a storm had them at 29.32" Hg!
Below is a collage of maps. (None show 1050 mb because they are estimates).

The all-time record high pressure for Europe is over 1067 mb (31.50" Hg)!
