10 consecutive months of record global warmth
March 2024 was the warmest March on record globally for land/ocean surface. This is now the 10th month in a row that has set a new monthly record for warmth globally.

According to NASA GISS, March 2024 averaged 1.39 degrees Celsius above the 1951-1980 mean, which broke the previous global record of +1.35 C set back in March of 2016.
NOAA also had similar results, showing March 2024 as averaging 1.35 C above the 20th century mean, which replaced March of 2016 as the warmest on record.

March 2024 was also the warmest such March on record for the Southern Hemisphere.
This year is also off to the warmest start on record. The January to March average global temperature anomaly was +1.35 C, which broke the previous record of +1.30 C set back in 2016.

According to NOAA, March 2024 was the 48th consecutive March with global temperatures averaging above the 20th century mean.
March 2024 also set a new record high for global ocean temperatures. This was also the 12th consecutive month where a new record high for global ocean temperatures was set.
