IAB Board of Directors Appoints AccuWeather Chief Business Officer Eric Danetz as Board Member
Danetz will bring his vast experience, leadership on innovation and growth in the digital age to enhance advertising industry standards and best practices to benefit IAB membership.
AccuWeather Global Weather Center, February 10, 2020 — Global weather and digital media leader AccuWeather today announced that Eric Danetz, Chief Business Officer, has been appointed to the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s (IAB) Board of Directors. Joining AccuWeather in 2017, Danetz oversees every aspect of AccuWeather’s revenue-generating products and services and has led efforts to unify the sales structures for all business units, including digital and multiplatform media properties, and business to business services.
Previously, Danetz served as a board member for IAB’s Data Center of Excellence; an independently funded unit within IAB, founded to expand existing organization resources and drive the “data agenda” for the digital media, marketing, and advertising industries. AccuWeather, which has the world’s largest collection of weather data, was one of the first enterprises to leverage data in a significant and impactful way for businesses, brands and marketers.
The announcement of Danetz’s appointment was made at IAB’s 2020 Annual Leadership Meeting, which brings senior executives from across the brand-media ecosystem together in Palm Desert, CA. Danetz joins the ranks of global business leaders representing the marketing, media and advertising fields of industry.
In his role at AccuWeather, Danetz engages AI, predictive and prescriptive data analytics, partnerships, and leading data scientists to help deliver innovative new products that offer unique opportunities for partners to reach their target audiences. As a leading voice in the field, he has addressed audiences on the topic of data, innovation and growth, having most recently addressed the effect of culture on organizational growth at the Alexander Group's Executive Forum.
“I am thrilled to join this esteemed company of leaders at the IAB and dig deeper into driving the data privacy, safety and transparency agenda impacting marketers and brands without compromising business innovation and growth,” said Danetz. “The diversity of people and opinions represented on this board makes the IAB a fundamentally critical organization when it comes to setting and refining industry standards, and I look forward to contributing and bringing the experience of AccuWeather, a digital leader with a global footprint, to this important conversation.”
"The IAB board has long provided senior leadership and insights that have guided our trade organization and the media and marketing industries at large," said Patrick Dolan, President, IAB. "Eric's expertise, particularly his deep understanding of sales strategy,
product development, and data management, will be a valuable asset as we work together to navigate the shifts in the digital landscape."
Prior to joining AccuWeather, Danetz was Senior Vice President and General Manager, Time Inc. International, where he managed a multi-platform portfolio of more than 90 brands in 170 countries, published in 19 different languages. His other previous roles include Group Publisher of Fortune and Money; EVP, Chief Revenue Officer at Defy Media; and executive leadership positions at Newsweek, The Daily Beast, CBS Interactive, CNET and Ziff Davis.
