AccuWeather Internet Partners Receive Free Website
Custom-Designed Pages are Easiest Way to Boost Traffic and ROI
(State College, PA - April 10, 2006) - AccuWeather, Inc. (www.accuweather.com) has launched a new Internet Partner program that gives television stations a weather website with the station’s own look and feel, best-of-breed weather content, and enhanced traffic promotion – all absolutely free.
The AccuWeather Internet Partner™ program is designed to deliver to the station a powerful weather presence on the web within a simple and profitable business model:
AccuWeather collaborates with the station to design the weather web presentation to the station’s own specifications, producing a page design customized to that market. The station serves the frame of the page, including any ads that the station chooses to include and sell, allowing the station to monetize its page views. AccuWeather serves the up-to-date, accurate, localized weather information, plus an ad within the content section. The ad covers AccuWeather’s serving and data management costs, so the station pays nothing for the content and service. The station retains the page view credit and revenue for ads that it serves, while building the power of the station brand on the Internet with an attractive, informative weather presentation that draws viewers.
An added advantage to the Internet Partner program is the additional active promotion that AccuWeather provides to the station on the AccuWeather.com weather website. Every time a visitor to the AccuWeather.com site requests a forecast for a community within the station’s viewing area, AccuWeather.com displays a link to the station’s own website along with the local forecast. This gives Internet Partners brand exposure among the over five million unique users who visit the AccuWeather.com site each month.
Participants in the AccuWeather Internet Partner program also automatically receive free page redesigns to incorporate the newest web content as it becomes available. Among the exciting new weather content coming this summer are:
A new, cutting-edge radar display that allows website users to see their precise location on the radar and determine the exact time a storm will reach them. Accompanying this forecast will be a plain-language display explaining to the user what the impact of the storm will be to them. Not available anywhere else, this service will contribute powerfully to viewer loyalty. Alerts of severe weather, delivered from the station’s website via email or wireless SMS to viewers who have requested them. The station’s brand comes with these alerts, continually reminding viewers that the station is the place to turn for the most valuable weather information.
