HYPE: Is Hurricane Dean`s Track Shifting?
UPDATE: The 12Z run of the GFDL is back to New Orleans and the early 12Z model tracks are not as convincing as those shown above for a shift off the southern Texas track.
This morning's Model Spread seems to shift the tracks up the coast from southern Texas to evenly cover the entire state. Now, it's hard to say if this is really a shift, or just more short-range models seeing landfall, whereas yesterday they didn't track out that far.
The morning version of the GFDL likes Houston for landfall and calls the storm a 916 mb (27.04" Hg) Category 5 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale [WikiPedia], worst case scenario, just off the coast of Houston. Of course, yesterday it said New Orleans.
