AccuWeather.com Facebook Page Changes
If you wonder where I've been the last few days, here's your answer. Facebook has launched some big changes to their website that will affect your favorite AccuWeather.com Pages. Below is an explanation of the changes to ease any confusion you might have. We are working to convert all of our pages over during this week:
- AccuWeather.com Facebook
- Henry Margusity Fan Club
- Joe Bastardi Fan Club
- Jim Kosek Fan Club
- Frank Strait Fan Club
- Elliot Abrams Fan Page
- Paul Pastelok
- Alex Rabb
- Ava Dinges
- Valerie Smock
- Violeta Yas
I've created an image showing the major changes, which I'll discuss below:
First (1) the tabs formerly at the top have moved to the left, but all the choices are still there. The other big change (and this one is a little disappointing) is that the content area (2), where AccuWeather.com and Fans post, is no longer sorted by time. Now, Facebook is using an algorithm similar to the one they use for your "News Feed" to order the posts by popularity, also cross-referencing your friends list (so it looks different for everyone). This is unfortunate, since the weather has a lot to do with time. I doubt that they will change this, though you can (hint, hint) submit a "suggestion" to have them change it. I'm sure they get millions of suggestions every day though.
In the lower left (3) you can see a list of other AccuWeather.com Facebook Pages that we "Like" (which used to be called "Favoriting." In the upper right (4) you can see how many of your friends Like those pages. Our latest 5 photos are randomized at the top of the page (5), but unfortunately they have removed the thumbnails to videos (both ours and Fans) and Fan Photos, but there is still a link on the left (6).
My Facebook profile is not affected by this, because it's not a page. Feel free to friend me.
