World Cup: Showers, storms to threaten several matches into the weekend
-
Rain and thunderstorms will threaten at least one match per day through Saturday.
-
Matches in Rostov-On-Don and Volgograd will force players and spectators to deal with hot conditions.
-
The large distance between venues means that weather will vary greatly between matches each day.
As Group Play continues this week at venues across Russia, players and spectators at many of these matches will need to be prepared for adverse weather.
Rain, thunderstorms and heat could all affect play at various venues hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches in the coming days.

On Friday, rain is in the forecast for matches in Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad, which could impact the matches and make for less than ideal conditions for spectators.
The third match of the day will take place in Volgograd where heat will be a concern early in the match and for anyone spending extended periods of time outdoors during the afternoon and early evening. The high temperature will hover near 33 C (91 F).

Matches scheduled to take place on Saturday in Moscow and Sochi will all be at risk for rainfall.
The match in Sochi may also be at risk for lightning delays.
A very warm start to the match is expected in Rostov-On-Don with a kick-off temperature near 30 C (86 F).
Dry weather is expected for each of the three scheduled matches for Sunday.
